Weed Eater Fuel/Oil Ratio Calculator

Written By: Weed Eater Guy

Calculating the amount of oil to mix with the gasoline for your Weed Eater or String Trimmer can sometimes be time consuming. But, this easy to use calculator that will tell you the correct amount of oil to mix with your gas to get the correct gas oil ratio every time.

Fill in the gallons of gas that you’ll be using, and the gas/oil ratio that your String Trimmer calls for, then hit the “Calculate” button and it will tell you the ounces of oil you need to mix in to get the proper gas/oil ratio to make your weed eater run right.

For those that are interested in figuring this out by hand for your string trimmer, here is how to calculate the amount of oil you need for your weed whackers gas/oil ratio.

To do this by hand first multiply the number of gallons you will be mixing with the oil by 128, this is the number of ounces in a gallon of gasoline. Then divide that number by the ratio that your string trimmer requires.

For instance if you are going to mix 2 gallons of Fuel/Oil for your weed eater that has a 40:1 ratio then you will do the following calculation:

2 x 128 = 256
256 / 40 = 6.4

So this means that you will mix 6.4 ounces of oil into the 2 gallons of gas to get the proper 40:1 ratio that your string trimmer needs.
